If you already have private medical insurance it may well be that you have been paying expensive premiums for many years without ever having had the need to use your private medical insurance policy. If this is the case you will clearly understand the great value for money offered by the Family Health Fund concept. However, it is important that you fully understand the implications of ceasing your existing policy and we highly recommend that you take the time to read the ABI (Association of British Insurers) Guide to buying private medical insurance.
Against a background of ever rising medical inflation, and the new treatments and procedures that become available year on year you can expect that your private medical insurance premiums will rise well in excess of general inflation in the years to come. Added to which the major issue now facing both the private and state sector is the introduction of the new cancer drugs that are not currently available in the NHS. The 1XS policy gives you the comfort and security of knowing that in the event of cancer being diagnosed you will have access to these new wonder drugs.
Should you have had cause to use your existing private medical insurance policy it is likely that any condition that you have claimed for in the past, is likely to be excluded from cover should you decide to move. However, it may well be that that specific condition is unlikely to re-occur, or is complete in the event of an appendix removal, tonsils and adenoids etc, then it would be possible for you to transfer to the 1XS policy with the comfort of knowing that any new conditions that develop will be covered.
The 1XS policy is available for all adults from the age of 18 to 55. For those aged 55 – 74 the product is available with the caveat that instead of having one rolling 12 month, £1500 excess, each individual would have a £1500 excess per person per policy year.
